World BJJ Champion and Hayabusa Athlete Competes in ADCC 2013

Hayabusa athlete, Marcus “Buchecha” Almeida (24-6-1) travels to Beijing, China this week to compete in the reputable ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) Submission Wrestling World Championship.

From October 19th to 20th, international combat athletes at the highest ranks of jiu-jitsu, wrestling, mixed martial arts, sabbo, shooto and judo compete in one of the most prominent grappling competitions in the world. Similar to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) competition rules, ADCC encourages grappling and submissions but does not allow striking of the opponent.

As the current World BJJ Weight and Absolute Champion, Almeida is no stranger to success at high-level tournaments. His preparation for ADCC has included wrestling skill development, intensive training with fellow Checkmat BJJ teammates and even recruiting other top fighters; such as his recent training session with current UFC Heavyweight Champion, Cain Velasquez.

Best of luck to Almeida, who represents Team Hayabusa during ADCC 2013. Watch his wrestling training video below.
