Two Muay Thai championship titles on the line at Lion Fight 35 this Friday, March 3rd at Foxwoods Resort Casino
This will be Lion Fight’s second live event of 2017, coming exactly one month after this year’s inaugural showcase of the world’s best Muay Thai talent in Las Vegas.
The co-main event will now see Magali Foroni slide into the challenger’s position to battle reigning women’s lightweight champion Antonina “The Panther” Shevchenko. The 37-year-old from Bordeaux, France, previously competed under the same banner at Lion Fight 12. Shevchenko, who fights out of Lima, Peru, breezed past Paola Cappucci and Ilona Wijmans in her two Lion Fight title defenses, both of which were unanimous decision outcomes at Foxwoods.Estonia’s Andra Aho will make the trip across the Atlantic as she steps in as an injury replacement to take on American Jeri “Fists of Fury” Sitzes in a women’s super bantamweight clash.An exciting lightweight matchup has been added to the leadoff spot of the main card as fan favorite Yeison “Yayyoo” Berdugo contends with rising prospect Jafar “The Cookie Monster” Toshev.
After two frustrating defeats, Berdugo, who fights out of Providence, Rhode Island, has righted his ship and followed up with back-to-back wins over Isaac Tijerina (second-round knockout that found its way to a top-10 spot AXS TV Fights’ Knockout of the Year for 2016) and Anthony Craparo (unanimous decision). Toshev, who hails from Brooklyn, New York, is just 21 years old and has already racked up several notable accolades.
Lion Fight 35 is topped with two-division champion “Smokin” Jo Nattawut putting his super welterweight belt on the line against Thai veteran Kengsiam Nor Sripueng.In featured bouts, iconic Thai competitor and former Lumpinee Stadium champion Naruepol “Mr. GQ” Fairtex takes on Amadeu Cristiano, and breakout star Chip “The Surgeon” Moraza-Pollard goes up against Scott “King Nomad” Noble.
Lion Fight 35 will air live on AXS TV Fights with a start time of 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. with commentary from renowned duo “The Voice” Michael Schiavello and UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich.
